The Creative Learning Journey .... every child matters

The leading skills-based creative curriculum for all primary schools

Our vision is based on the principles of 'Excellence and Enjoyment' and 'Every Child Matters'. CLJ aims to underpin, support and improve children's learning in the basic skills resulting in staff and pupils being enthused about teaching and learning in cross-curricular themes.

The CLJ Learning Skills Curriculum covers the national curriculum...
and gives you the evidence!

For schools looking for an innovative and inclusive approach to delivering the national curriculum, The Creative Learning Journey offers a completely unique proposition to support all learning styles, staff and pupils.

Every school is seeking to address the challenge of delivering an increasingly personalised learning experience to its students, but despite intensive national debate on the subject, there is still confusion about what 'Personalised Learning' really means in practice, what the implications are for school organisation and operation, and what the impact on standards might be. The CLJ is playing a leading role in developing approaches that help school leaders and designers to turn high-level aspirations and visions into practical and sustainable solutions.

Confidence in your curriculum is critical for the success of your children, your staff and your whole school. That is why the CLJ is designed to help children learn essential knowledge and skills and develop an understanding of a broad range of curriculum subjects. In addition, the CLJ focuses on developing the personal qualities children need to be good citizens.

The CLJ has been designed for children of all abilities and all learning styles, and encourages learning in groups as well as individual learning, providing a cross-curricular, thematic, rigorous teaching structure designed to engage children of all abilities in today's world. Children learn through a series of themes. Each has a theme that today's children find interesting and relevant and children learn many of their subjects through this one common theme so that their learning has meaning to them. Linking subjects means that children can make lots of connections with their learning. The curriculum is also designed to raise aspirations of young people by opening their eyes to a bigger world.

The CLJ Learning Skills Curriculum supports the national curriculum. It intentionally and systematically develops pupils' personal learning and life skills, including the social and emotional aspects of learning and every Child Matters outcomes, which develops pupils' ability to learn more effectively and results in increased motivation, raised standards and accelerated progress. It addresses Excellence and Enjoyment in making motivating and creative cross curricular links and providing exciting contexts for pupils' learning. It accommodates and assumes some discrete teaching of Literacy and Numeracy through the Framework and supports development of Community Cohesion and Global Citizenship.

The CLJ gives schools the confidence to take a more thematic approach to their curriculum with the rigour focused on the development of learning skills. With the added value of developing personal and social skills, allowing children to work collaboratively, to help each other to learn and work together to refine and develop their thoughts and ideas.

The CLJ provides an on-line Assessment for Learning programme that assesses the skills development of all the foundation subjects. CLJ Assessment for Learning provides clear, structured assessment levelled to National Curriculum levels, for teachers to assess children on a 'beginning,' 'developing,' and 'mastering' basis for a wide range of key skills. It also provides for children to be fully involved in their learning through self-assessment and peer assessment. Clear guidance provides the advice a child needs to move on to the next level in their development of the skill.

The CLJ has not only been designed with children in mind. It directly supports teachers too by providing comprehensive and rigorous teaching frameworks with cross referencing of CLJ learning skills to the National Curriculum. These allow teachers more time to focus on developing creative learning experiences for children as less time has to be spent on lesson planning.

The national curriculum fits in with the CLJ and it can take account of changes made by the new government. So now is the time to take a creative approach to your school's curriculum and make all the difference. The more connections that are made, the better a child's learning.
